What is it?
Friends of Fort Jesus is a club where we focus on promoting cultural heritage, history and nature. We do this by organizing monthly birdwatching walks, trips focused on birds, archaeology and natural history. We also get a monthly newsletter that updates us on events and activities. As members we also get free entry into Fort Jesus Museum and other coastal museums like Gedi, Lamu, Jumba and Malindi.
Why did I Join the club?
I joined this club because I have always liked history and nature. I thought it would be fun to go on birdwatching walks and trips while learning more about the culture around us. I also enjoy exploring new places and thought it would be a good chance to meet new people who enjoy the same things. I also wanted to improve my photography skills by taking pictures of the birds we spot.
What is my role in the club?
I am a participant in the club and I am also the youngest member. I have contributed by taking some bird photos during the walks and sharing them to be used in the club’s monthly newsletter. I also help suggest ideas for future trips whenever I can.
