Students at Saint Augustine’s preparatory school are facing bullying from their seniors, that leaves them scared and they are unable to speak up or defend themselves. To address this root problem, we propose the Young Leaders Training Program, which stems from a comprehensive needs assessment(Needs Assessments link) conducted within the school community. The program aims to empower students with essential leadership skills and confidence, enabling them to raise their voices and stand against bullying. Collaboration with school administrators and students and teachers ensures alignment with school policies and support structures. Our goal is to ensure that at least 80% of participants feel more confident and capable of leading initiatives that foster a safer and more supportive school environment. Our whole idea is basically to educate them on raising their voice and give them an opportunity to feel what it is to be leaders and what is the actual meaning of Leadership.

My academic and personal development have greatly improved as a result of my service learning activities. It made it possible for me to relate my theoretical understanding to actual circumstances and, frequently, to contemporary social issues. We went to Tom Mboya and St. Augustine schools. Data collection and analysis of their various demands were part of the exercise. Tom Mboya boys had a large amount of facilities but lacked maintenance, but St. Augustine was a school in terrible need, failing to provide for girls who expressed interest in sports and lacking educational supplies. We decided that St. Augustine was the main location where we could do more after considering the available information. This experience developed my communication and teamwork skills, solved problems, and created social responsibility in me with the motivation to think creatively about how to integrate learning and service for sustainable change.
