Indivudal Reflection
This was a hectic phase because two of our group members were not present during the time of the presentation. As a result, we had to manage all the tasks and present everything with only five people. Although this made the situation more stressful, we worked together to ensure that the final presentation was a success. Originally, we had prepared a Google Slides presentation, but unfortunately, it got deleted. One of the main reasons we decided to switch platforms was because Google Slides did not offer many transition options, and we wanted something more dynamic and visually appealing. After discussing as a group, we chose to recreate our work using Canva. This decision turned out to be a positive one, as the final version of the presentation looked much better and was appreciated by everyone who attended.
This moment marked the end of our Service as Learning (SL) journey. Reflecting on the entire process, it was truly a mixture of emotions. There were times when it was challenging and stressful, especially when dealing with unexpected obstacles. However, there were also moments of excitement, fun, and a sense of accomplishment as we moved closer to our goals. Despite the difficulties, we were able to achieve what we had set out to do. We successfully taught important skills to others and helped them build the confidence needed to present in front of a new and unfamiliar audience. The evidence of our success was clearly seen through the skit and the way participants articulated their ideas during the final presentation.
Overall, the SL journey felt like a roller coaster ride, filled with highs and lows. There were moments when the challenges felt overwhelming, but with teamwork, determination, and perseverance, we were able to reach our final destination. Looking back, it is clear that every experience, whether good or bad, contributed to our growth and learning. This journey has not only helped us develop new skills but also strengthened our ability to adapt and overcome challenges. This reflection marks the conclusion of our SL experience and the final chapter of our MYP journey.
Group Reflection
Our Service Action experience was definitely a rollercoaster of surprises, but it was completely worth it. During the last presentation, we faced some last-minute difficulties with two members missing, but the rest of us stepped up and managed to sort everything out without too much trouble. It was a bit stressful at first, but once we got organized, everything fell into place.
We had originally made our slide deck on Google Slides, but after realizing there were not many good transition options, we decided to redesign everything on Canva. That turned out to be a great move because the final product looked a lot more professional and creative. The audience really liked it too, which made all the effort feel even more rewarding. Everyone in the group had their own slide to present, and it helped make the presentation feel more balanced and smooth.
Working with the students from St. Augustine’s made our job a lot easier and way more fun. They were super cooperative, curious, and genuinely interested in learning, especially about leadership skills. Their positive attitude made the whole teaching process so much more enjoyable, and honestly, we learned a lot from them too. Seeing how well they worked together as a team reminded us how important communication and collaboration are, not just for them, but for us as well.
Even with all the stress, last-minute problems, and a few small issues within the group, we are really proud of what we accomplished. We have come a long way, both as individuals and as a team, and the whole experience taught us a lot about teamwork, patience, leadership, and staying calm under pressure. This Service Action journey might have had its ups and downs, but in the end, it left us with lessons and memories that we will definitely carry with us.
